TONGVA LIVING HISTORY GARDEN
Plants
of the
Tongva Era
Garden
The first people living in this area were the Tongva Indians. When the Spanish colonizers arrived they re-named them Gabrielinos to represent the Gabriel Mountains. For thousands of years previously, the Tongva Indians were caretakers of the land where the native plants provided them with food, medicine, clothing, and shelter.
